Nutrient Management Module

نویسنده

  • Jeff Jacobsen
چکیده

Introduction This module is the eleventh in a series of Extension materials designed to provide Extension agents, Certified Crop Advisers (CCAs), consultants, and producers with pertinent information on nutrient management issues. To make the learning “active,” and to provide credits to CCAs, a quiz accompanies this module. In addition, realizing that there are many other good information sources including previously developed Extension materials, books, web sites, and professionals in the field, we have provided a list of additional resources and contacts for those wanting more in-depth information. This module covers Rocky Mountain CCA Nutrient Management Competency Area VI: Nutrient Source and Applications, with the focus on fertilizer placement and timing.

Nutrient and Microbial Transport from Feedlot Surfaces

Nutrient and microbial transport by runoff may vary at different locations within a beef cattle feedlot. If the areas making the largest contributions to nutrient and microbial transport can be identified, it may be possible to institute site-specific management practices to reduce runoff nutrient and microbial transport. The objectives of this study were to: a) measure selected feedlot soil pr...

Integrating Wetlands and Riparian Zones in Regional Hydrological Modeling

Wetlands, and in particular riparian wetlands, are at the interface between well drained land and the aquatic environment, where they control the exchange of water and related chemical fluxes from catchment areas to surface waters like lakes and streams. Integrating wetlands and riparian zones in regional hydrological modeling is challenging because of the complex interactions between soil wate...
